Past and Present Activities to help the Children of Haiti live a Sustainable Healthy Lifestyle.
The children and staff of Saint Dominiques orphanage / Fondation Montesinos and the surrounding villages should have the opportunity to have access to medical care when needed. Our team has strived to provide the best for the children by building a state of the art clinic in our Titanyen site, funding medical missions & Haiti based medical services, designing and establishing RO water filtration systems to offer clean drinking water, funding a full time nurse on staff, and continuing our ongoing mission of developing a Digital Electronic Medical Record System to allow children the ability to have all of their medical records in one place.
Key initiatives we are focused on:
Haitian children, even in successful orphanages are lacking the proper life skills and professional / career development needed to enter life in Haiti independently. Our team has identified challenges of children leaving the orphanage and moving on to university, trade school, or into the workforce under-equipped with the necessary skills to succeed. Over the past year, we have partnered with Kids Connection Haiti to help fill the gaps and provide the best possible future for our children.
Key initiatives we are focused on:
We are currently working with organizations such as Kids Connection Haiti to focus on identifying key gaps in our young adults and deploying workshops, individual coaching, therapy, etc. to help aid in preparing our young adults for living independently
In March of 2023, the children and staff were forced out of our main orphanage, school, and church in the Titanyen, Haiti location due to gang violence that threatened the lives of the children and staff. We have now moved operations to Port-au-Prince where there is less gang violence and threats (though still exists on a daily basis) and until such time that the country becomes more stable.
Key initiatives we are focused on:
Transitional housing for kids that are 18 and older who are still working on high school degrees or are working with our KCH partnership need a safe place to live, food, transportation, clothes, education, etc.
Funding of staff salaries to care for the kids
Providing additional food and supplies needed beyond what can be supplied by our FFP partnership
Funding of special events and activities such as, most recently, summer camp and education reinforcement
